1. Safeguarding against falling of hinged doors & gates
In the unlikely event of hinge failure due to extreme external forces (e.g. a moving truck), an anti-drop safety device must keep the gate leaf in a maximum deplacement of 300 mm from the rotation axis.
Safety Cables
Specifically developed to secure a gate in accordance with EN12604, the stainless steel B-SAFE safety cable can endure forces up to 1000 kg and prevents gates up to 500 kg from falling in case of hinge failure.
2. For gates operating by gravity or self-closing mechanism
EN12604 prescribes specific requirements for gates operating by gravity or self-closing mechanisms, such as Locinox' quality gate closers, to prevent crushing or damaging when the self-closing device is operating. The speed shall not exceed 0,3 m/s and the force must remain under 200 Newton.

3. Protection against unintentional and uncontrolled movements
A key focus of EN12604 is the protection against unintentional and uncontrolled movements. These shall be limited by end stops, withstanding the energy that a gate can develop during impact.
